Sensorial Apparatus Workshop

The Sensorial Apparatus Parent workshops will teach you how to work with and present Montessori Materials. This is a very hands-on course where a teacher shows you the proper directions and gestures you will need to know when practicing the Montessori Approach at home with your child.

Sensorial activities enable the child to order, classify, and describe sensory impressions in relation to color, shape, sound, dimension, surface, texture, weight, etc. They also provide a basis for the development of other skills, such as mathematics, or language. Through contact and exploration, the child learns the knowledge and ideas that are important for later use in life.

Language Apparatus Workshop

The Language Apparatus Workshop reveals the secret of success of the Effective Montessori Method in Literacy. It progresses through a variety of activities and materials, which are progressively more difficult and complex. Through sandpaper letters to introduce sounds and symbols and begins the process of writing, which also leads naturally to reading. As the children are aware of the phonetic sounds, and can link them together, they progress on to:

  • putting together three letter phonetic words, (the pink scheme).  The child begins reading simple books that contain only three letter phonetic words.

  • reading and writing four letter phonetic words (the blue scheme)
